To select the best that nature has to offer, Garnier uses BIOSCREENING technology, an evaluation technique used in the pharmaceutical industry, to screen effective natural ingredients and select only those proven to be the most efficient for the skin.

Bioscreening technology is an innovative evaluation technique based on a cell culture system operated by a state-of-the-art robot. The cell cultures are first placed in multi-well plates, and then put in an automatic incubator where the robot takes care of the ensuing stages:

Selecting the natural active ingredients to be tested
  Moving the plates
Diluting the active ingredients being tested
Freezing the solutions to eliminate any dissolved gases
Adding active ingredients to the cell cultures
Applying the protocol procedures before carrying out measurements

Each multi-well plate tests 384 natural active ingredients at a time. The data is subsequently sent to molecular modeling laboratories in order to determine the natural ingredient's properties and chemical characteristics.

The tests carried out with this Bioscreening technology have enabled Garnier to substantially increase its capacity to develop new skincare products from nature.
